Across Europe and beyond, lung cancer screening programmes are being established in a growing number of places either as national programmes, regional pilots or clinical trials.

To date, China, Croatia, Czechia, Israel, Poland, South Korea, Taiwan and the USA are the only countries that have implemented screening for lung cancer. This is covered by the national health systems in these countries. Countries such as the Netherlands and the UK offer screening in some locations.

It is the job of health authorities and screening councils to balance the risks and harms and develop robust and effective screening programmes with equal access to all high-risk participants.

You can access an interactive map of lung cancer screening locations on the Lung Cancer Policy Network website.
